A Floater's Guide To Infinity

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your first float session, we will run you through an orientation and answer any questions you may have.

You will be floating in "heavy” water, heated to skin temperature in a dark and quiet environment.  This will give you the feeling of floating weightlessly in space in the zero gravity environment of the float tank.  Your experience will depend on your state of mind and your expectations.  Reactions have ranged from euphoria to boredom; the most common response is deep relaxation.  

Generally much of the first float is spent getting used to this new environment.  It is a good idea to familiarise yourself with the surroundings right away. You may become aware initially of your breathing and your heartbeat.  This is a great thing!  In the absence of external stimulation, this awareness will help you. 

During the relaxation process, you may be aware of the areas of your body that hold more tension and resistance, old injuries are often supported by tightened muscle tissue.

We do recommend that you learn the basic breathing technique as it will help you relax and let go much quicker:

  1. Breath in and out through your nose
  2. Focus on the sensation of your breath as it enters and leaves your body, slowing your breath with every inhale.
  3. Feel the water press against the surface of your skin
  4. Imagine that a magical eraser is removing the boundary between you and the water, until you don’t know where the water begins and your body ends.
  5. Experience complete bliss, freedom, internal relaxation and the infinity of you.

Always remember that you are in total control throughout your float.
Feel all the external senses dim down into nothingness as you experience the purest meaning of peace and quiet.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Don’t shave or wax a day prior to floating. Vaseline is provided to cover any small cuts that may be irritated by the salt water.
  • Avoid drinking caffeinated beverages or smoking cigarettes before your float.
  • It is not advisable to eat before you float as being full will be a distraction during your session.
  • If you have had a tattoo recently please wait at least 2 weeks before floating
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your first float to check in and have a quick chat. You don’t need to bring anything except yourself, we’ll cover the basics together and answer any questions you may have. Swimwear is optional but not recommended as it can be distracting in the high salt environment.
  • Make sure to take a few minutes to regain yourself before stepping out into the world after your session is completed in the lounge, complimentary herbal teas and water are available.

Do not float if:

  • You suffer from incontinence, diarrhoea, infectious diseases or uncontrolled epilepsy
  • You're menstruating, breastfeeding or in the first trimester of pregnancy
  • You have a special or lacquered hairdo, or have recently dyed your hair
  • You have applied hair colour or used tanning products within the last 10 days
  • You have open or bleeding wounds
  • You have been medically advised not to float
