YOUR FIRST FLOAT

OUR FIRST TIME FLOAT GUIDE:

You’ll float effortlessly for 60 minutes in our Float Pods or Tanks. The water is filled with epsom-salts, and is only 30cm deep, and set at skin-temperature.
Each session is allocated 90 minutes, 15 minutes before & 15 minutes after to shower.

Like many things, floatation therapy can take some practice. It works differently for everyone.

As a first-time floater, you might spend some time adjusting to the environment. Calming music and starry lighting (in our Float Rooms) ease you into the experience, eventually both turning off so you are left in silence (you can choose to leave the lights on if you wish).

Once you have adjusted, you’ll enter a meditative state of complete sensory deprivation and relaxation. We recommend floating at least three times to begin to get the full benefits of float therapy, and to see how float therapy fits your lifestyle. You’ll experience different benefits in each time you float and adjust quicker to the environment each time.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your first float session, so our friendly staff can walk you through your experience, complete a waiver form and answer any questions you may have.

Before Floating

To prepare for your first session, please avoid:

  • Eating a full meal at least 1-2 hours before your float session
  • Drinking caffeine or alcohol 3-4 hours before floating to prevent disruptions to your relaxation
  • Shaving and waxing on the same day of your float
  • Colour treatments in your hair at least 7 days before your float

The float therapy process.

One of our friendly team members will show you to your private room. The suite has a shower and float pod, and clean towels, earplugs, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided. You must shower well when you visit the studio before entering your float tank.

Swimwear is optional. We recommend floating nude to ensure the body receives minimal sensory stimulation.

You’ll float in ~600kg of Epsom Salt enriched water for one hour. The salt water will be at the same temperature as your skin, minimising distractions and making you feel fully relaxed. This completely relaxed state of mind might help you focus better, feel meditative, or even fall asleep.

After one hour, music will play. Please sit up, open your float pod/float room, regain your bearings, and exit the pod for a shower. We allow a full 90 minutes, giving you time to shower before and after your session.

Complimentary tea is offered following your session.

Do not float if:

  • You are menstruating, breastfeeding or in your first trimester of pregnancy
  • You are under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medications
  • You have open or bleeding wounds
  • You have uncontrolled epilepsy or incontinence
  • You have been medically advised not to float
  • You have a lack of personal mobility (unless a support person is able to join you)

If you suffer from nausea, manageable epilepsy, or depression, please discuss this with our float staff.

If you feel claustrophobic, you may keep the lights on and step in or out of the float tank anytime. Our Dreamweaver Float Room offers more vertical space than our other float tanks, creating a relaxing experience for first-timers and anyone with claustrophobia.

Hair treatment policy.

Please avoid colour treatment of your hair at least seven days before your float. Wait at least three washes for blonde colouring (or until at least 14 days before your float). Please wait for seven washes after dark hair (brown, black, red, etc.) treatments.

Infinity Float has the right to refuse clients for these reasons, as colour treatment can contaminate the water. Failure to follow this requirement may result in a penalty for the cost of refilling the tank.
